ASK GARY: What Vehicle Would Make a Good Gift for Father’s Day?
Buying a car for that special dad for Father’s Day is sure to put a big smile on his face. Consumer Reports just came out with a list of 10 best vehicles for Father’s Day gifts, and there are two Toyota vehicles that are standouts on the list:
- Toyota Prius was highlighted as a great environmentally friendly gift for dad. Consumer Reports says “it’s the thriftiest machine on the road, delivering 44 mpg overall in our tests.”
- Toyota Sienna was chosen as a family friendly car for dad. Whether you’re driving kids or transporting materials, Consumer Reports notes, “a minivan can do it all. And the Sienna does it better than most.”
Both of these vehicles meet Consumer Reports’ high standards for safety and reliability and they do well in tests. The full June 10, Consumer Reports article can be found at http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2011/06/10-best-cars-for-fathers-day-2011.html.
Another bit of good news is that you can take care of your wallet at the same time you’re taking care of dad. In a separate report, Consumer Reports recently rated the best new car values based on owner costs for five years, road-test score and predicted reliability. Toyota—with its Lexus and Scion brands—led the list with 11 models, including the popular Camry, Prius, and RAV4. The Toyota Prius IV was also chosen as the best value for a family car. The full write-up on the report can be found in the June 12 Boston Globe article: http://www.boston.com/business/personalfinance/articles/2011/06/12/weeding_out_new_car_values_from_the_duds_takes_research/.
No matter how you spend Father’s Day, hope it’s a happy one.
