Ask Gary: Does Jaffarian Automotive Group support the local community?
It doesn’t happen much when we’re negotiating on the sale of a vehicle, but when customers are in for service or when I’m out of the showroom, a surprising number of people ask me how our business supports the local community and if we’d be willing to help their cause.
I don’t like to “toot our own horn” about this, but Jaffarian Automotive Group does a lot with local charitable organizations. It’s our way of giving back to a community that has supported our family-owned business for four generations. I’m very grateful for the family life I was blessed to have as a child, so I try to focus our giving on organizations that provide children with positive experiences, guidance and support, such as the Haverhill Athletic Association, Haverhill Boys and Girls Clubs, the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club, Haverhill Recreation Football, Haverhill Stadium and Haverhill Boxing Club.
As you can probably tell from that list, supporting youth sports is a Jaffarian family tradition. I’m proud to say that the City of Haverhill named the Weight Room at Haverhill High School after my grandfather, Fred (Tokie) Jaffarian.
I’d also like to invite you to join us this Saturday, March 26th at the Fitness for a Cure event that will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jaffarian Auto Group is a major sponsor of this event and will be providing valet parking for all attendees. Fitness for a Cure is all about healthy kids giving back to the kids at St. Jude. More than 100 local children, many from the Merrimack Valley, have already committed their time on Sundays from November through March to get ready for two performances at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium.
The Fitness for a Cure program includes a day-time family event and an evening gala. Lowell’s own Micky Ward will be a special guest at the evening event, which also includes a live performance by the Flutie Brothers Band. Local people giving back to the community – that is what it is all about.
